Invisalign®

Do you have crooked or overcrowded teeth? Are you looking for an alternative to traditional methods of straightening teeth?

Dr. Linda Hallman is a Chevy Chase Invisalign provider and offers comprehensive orthodontic care for children and adults to address a wide range of concerns. Dr. Hallman has advanced training in orthodontics and works with patients who have orthodontic needs ranging from the common to the complex.

Invisalign is often the perfect alternative to traditional metal braces that can sometimes feel embarrassing for teens and adults, require dietary restrictions, and can irritate the gums and soft tissues of the mouth. Invisalign is a comfortable orthodontic treatment option that uses clear plastic aligners. The clear aligners fit like a custom mouthguard and are virtually unnoticeable. Invisalign enables patients with mild to moderate orthodontic concerns to be treated successfully in less time and with greater comfort.

Invisalign braces are used to treat a variety of common dental health concerns and orthodontic conditions, including:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Overcrowded teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Misaligned teeth

Benefits of Invisalign

Straightening teeth not only improves the appearance of your smile but can also benefit your long-term oral health. Teeth that are misaligned or crooked are at a greater chance of developing tooth decay or gum disease. It can be difficult to clean between crooked or misaligned teeth, and plaque can build up in those spaces. Straight teeth are easier to clean and can help prevent future oral health problems when they are taken care of properly.

Invisalign braces are crafted from hard-soft plastic material which is clear and blends in with teeth. The clear aligners can also be removed for eating without any restrictions. You can brush and floss regularly when removing the aligners. The team at Fit Bite Orthodontics will work with you through every step of Invisalign treatment to ensure that your progress is monitored and your results are predictable.

Invisalign: What to Expect

Invisalign treatment is customized to each patient for the best possible results. Dr. Hallman and her team will take digital scans of the teeth and jaw to be used in planning your treatment and creating a custom set of aligners that will gently reposition your teeth.

Patients will wear their custom aligners for 20-22 hours a day and change them bi-weekly. Dr. Hallman uses advanced digital technology through a smartphone app to monitor the progress of your treatment, reducing the need for in-office visits. Dental Monitoring makes it easier and more convenient to keep your treatment on track while minimizing the number of visits to our office. Using the unique “scan box” that attaches easily to a smartphone, Dr. Hallman can upload digital images of your teeth and analyze progress from the comfort of your home.

Learn the answers to frequently asked questions about Invisalign below:

Is Invisalign painful?
At first, you may feel some pressure or discomfort when starting treatment or placing a new set of aligners. However, this fades as your teeth adjust to the aligners.

Is Invisalign better than traditional metal braces?
Invisalign offers benefits that traditional metal braces do not offer. Invisalign aligners are discreet and can be removed for eating and regular oral hygiene. Treatment is typically faster using Invisalign, depending on the needs of the patient. Metal braces can also irritate and pinch gums.

Do you sleep with Invisalign aligners in?
Because the Invisalign braces should be worn for 20 to 22 hours a day, you should sleep with the aligners in to ensure that treatment is progressing. You should sleep facing upward with your head elevated.
